Wow, it’s spring now. Did you check the prayer garden under the sanctuary stain glass window? Small yellow flowers are poking out their beautiful faces. The sunlight gets longer and we see new life everywhere in God’s creation.

We are in the Lenten season and waiting for Easter. According to our Book of Worship Lent comes from the Anglo-Saxon word, lenten, which means “spring.” And the season of Lent is a preparation for celebrating Easter. What I think we misunderstand about Lent is that we think it is only a very somber time when we repent, fast and pray. The more Lenten seasons I experience, the more I realize that it is actually a very joyful time when we enjoy spring and are awaiting the climax of Christian life, Easter.
