On November 6, 2010 the Church Conference of Morgan Park United Methodist Church unanimously passed the following resolution:

The Morgan Park United Methodist Church of Chicago, Illinois, resolves to join and support the Reconciling Ministries Network that we may be known as a Reconciling Congregation within the United Methodist Church. In so doing, this Church Conference empowers its Church and Society Committee and its Reconciling Congregation Task Group to work with its Church on the growth of our work of reconciliation. We are ambassadors for the good news which is Christ Jesus.

This resolution was passed in support of the Principles of Faith presented by the Reconciling Team of the Church and Society Committee. The following activities were sponsored by the Reconciling Team:

  • Claiming the Promise: An Ecumenical Welcoming Bible Study Resource on Homosexuality
  • Sermon series by the Rev. Eun-Hye Choi on Reconciliation
  • Speakers on both sides of the issue
  • The following films with discussion and fellowship: “Normal” and “The Bible Tells Me So”
  • Articles in the church newsletter by committee members witnessing on the importance of reconciliation.
